What is 1800 pm military time

?

1800 pm military time is the same as 6:00 pm on a standard time clock. Many governmental and military organizations around the world use a 24-hour clock instead of the more common 12-hour clock for their operations. Consequently, the numbers 0 through 23 are used to represent midnight (0000) through one minute before midnight (2359). Under this system, 6:00 pm would be referred to as 1800 pm military time.

Military time is often confusing to those who are unfamiliar with it, but understanding how it works is fairly simple. On a 12-hour clock, the day is broken up into two halves – AM and PM. AM stands for "ante meridiem" which literally translates to "before noon". PM stands for "post meridiem" and literally translates to "after noon". Since 1800 represents six o'clock in the afternoon, it would be assigned under PM as opposed to AM on a 12-hour clock.

Converting from standard time (12-hour) to military time (24-hour) and vice versa requires a different approach than when converting from one type of metric system to another. In order to convert from 12-hour time (1800) to 24-hour time (1800), one must add 12 hours onto the given timestamp with 0 representing 12 AM and 12 representing 12 PM on a 12-hour clock; just like in this case where 6:00 PM is converted to 1800 PM on a 24-hour clock by adding 12 hours onto its original 8 PM timestamp in order to get 1800 PMmilitary time.

Military time was invented many centuries ago during World War I when communicating among soldiers during nighttime had become especially challenging due it being harder for them at times distinguish between AM and PM timestamps written down on paper or communicated through word of mouth. Before then, railway companies had long since adopted what had become known as railroad 24 Time, which split each day into four six hour blocks divided between morning, evening afternoon and night rather than two halves? Hence why 2359 marks 11:59 PM instead of just 0001 marking midday like we were joking above before that by adding twelve hours onto an evening timestamp like 1800 will bring you from evening into morning instead of merely into afternoon like one's typical expectations that jump across twelve hour blocks might usually lead you too
